"Please convey my sincere thanks to all of the HEROs and to Marcus (radio #552) in particular. Marcus pushed me out of harm's way yesterday morning after I flooded my engine in deep standing water on the Mt. Paran exit ramp. He was courteous and kind and extremely helpful, including tips for next time there's an unexpected encounter with deep water. The HERO men and women are truly heroes."

"I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the HERO unit that came to our school last Tuesday! Not only was he informative and knowledgeable, but he made it fun for the kids! Mr. Crumbley took time with each class and helped them understand the purpose of the HERO units! He was great! Thanks again!"

"My tire blew out this morning. I was stuck on a bridge merging from 75 to 285 with cars flying by. I normally would not hesitate to change a tire myself, but the traffic and narrow shoulder posed a significant danger. The HERO call center were very helpful in determining my location and the problem and quickly dispatching a unit to assist me. I was very pleased to find a friendly calm voice on the other end of the line and a friendly face to help me. The gentleman that was dispatched checked the pressure on my spare and changed my tire in just a few minutes safely, an activity that would have taken me over 30 minutes and put me in danger's way. I am ever thankful for this service the GDOT offers. It feels good to pay taxes when we have such helpful services in place. One more thing that makes Atlanta such a pleasant place to live in."

"This morning February 17 at around 6:20, one quarter mile from the University Avenue exit heading South on the connector towards Columbus, I was saved by a HERO.

I had run over something, plywood I believe, in lane 1 as I passed Turner field and it must have punctured my front right tire.

As I was contemplating crawling under my car to unbolt the spare or to drive to a safer place to change the tire... I looked in my rearview and saw a HERO vehicle parked behind my car. Wow what a great sight to see.

Thank you for your help. Within 5 minutes we had the spare unbolted from the bottom of the vehicle, the car jacked up and the flat off... total turn around for me to be back on the road was about 10 minutes. It would have taken me at least 4 times that with a few bloody knuckles and a dry cleaning bill had the HERO not been around. Thanks.

Unfortunately I did not get my good Samaritan's name or unit number, if you could send me any contact information regarding him I would like to thank him personally.

From a grateful citizen, keep up the great work that you all do!"
